Net Guardian stands between you and the Internet and checks every website request against a library of website addresses.

The Library
Net Guardian's library system undertakes an enormous task to classify the websites of the Internet into various categories. Each website request is reviewed to see if that site is permitted. The library is updated daily with approximately 8000 new websites and the current library lists several million web pages.
Categories
This library contains web site addresses that are classed in to various categories, such as: porn, violence, illegal activities, drugs, etc. When a web page is called by your browser it is scanned through Net Guardian's library in microseconds. If a request is found in a filtered category, then access to that site is denied.
Mudcrawler
As the Internet is growing so fast there are literally tens of thousands of new web pages going on the web everyday. To keep our library up to date Net Guardian utilises an array of powerful, high-speed computers called the "Mudcrawler" that visit Internet sites in search of specific criteria. Net Guardian tells us where these sites are, their addresses and if they have their own domain or are on a shared server.
The Review Team
The sites that meet this criteria are then viewed by a team which decide if the site should be blocked or not. This means that legitimate sites, such as medical sites, are not blocked.
If you have any questions about why a site is or is not blocked you can send an email to the Block Review Team who will review it and get back to you.
